www.google.co.uk/carbonfootprint/about.html, which adds a carbon footprint calculator to your Google desktop, if you have one, is worth a look. Have your gas and electricity bills ready for the assessment. The tab that is added to your desktop is a comprehensive one and you could imagine a range of other issue-based services being made available in a similar way. I really like the holistic themed tab, and as you say other issue based service collections can be created in the same way. Rather than an organisation's learning environment being presented in this way, perhaps we should think of this as a collection of learning services that a learner has, that includes a view into their current set of courses. (We plan to have the first learndirect iGoogle widget this year)
